"Modern" SDV with 1979 Type paint job
« on: March 30, 2010, 02:25:50 PM »
We were in Lafayette, IN yesterday, and while my eye was wandering over parked cars along our way, I noticed a very attractive 1997 or thereabout full sized SDV with the top of the trunk, roof, and hood top painted in a contrasting color (the way I wish my 1979 Brougham was painted.) It was kind of a gold on the bottom and dark cedar on the upper. Very, very smart looking.

Agreed.   I wish two-toned paint jobs would make a come back.

Main reason I don't do it is that the paint job is only a few years old. When I put a new top on, I may think about it again. Also, my car has the stainless instead of striping, and so the factory did not do two-tones on that as the stainless does not come all the way back to the tail lamps.

I saw another like that marroon/silver Deville in Jonesboro, Arkansas only it was Gold lower with a Silver upper.....it looked pretty nice.  It had stainless trim as well and I thought it looked sharp.  I had to do a double take.  I also had the vogue tires so that made it stand out a little too.  I wonder if these cars are customized by the same shop as a package or if they are being done by their owners.

I see modern two tone cars frequently here in Atlanta. The Chrysler 300 and Cadillac Deville are pretty popular. I've also seen a really nice looking Nissan Altima in two tone. That paint scheme really improves the look of some cars in my opinion.
