Pat Nixon's White House Limo

At Capitol Cadillac in Greenbelt, Maryland, at the Potomac Region CLC Show last month, Pat Nixon's White House Limo was on display in the service area.  What is unique about this limo, is that the Secret Service added extra chrome strips around the hood ornament on the hood in order for her car to be readily identified from the air.  Enjoy the following photos taken of said car at the the show.

Thanks for the photos of Pat Nixon's Limo! What an interesting bit of trivia--and what a great looking car! Those pictures really make a case for why Cadillac should not have abandoned the factory-built Limousine market. Perhaps if they had continued designing a factory-built Limousine model, the DTS would have been updated more and there would clearly be a "flagship" model from Cadillac. The Cadillac brand visibility, as a Limousine manufacturer, was priceless advertising, in my opinion! I recall an ad appearing in the Wall Street Journal, around 1975, which read something like, "Wherever important people gather . . ." along with a picture of a Fleetwood Seventy-Five Series Limousine.

Yes Beautiful car, I've seen hood trim like that I think on a hearse before of eBay. I to miss the factory Cadillac Limo's, nice big back door and plenty of leg room, I'd be happy being chauffeured around in 1 of them, you only really need a stretch limo if your taking a group of people somewhere, then you have the standard size back door, now you need an Escalade to have a decent sized limo.

I thought that was an S&S or other body manufacturer trademark as well.  I seem to remember seeing S&S coaches from the late 30's through the late 40's or early 50's using hood trim similar to that.

Overall, it is interesting that it is a standard "75".  It doesn't appear to be armor plated or have any other modifications.

I also read that Mamie Eisenhower had a personal Chrysler or Imperial that she used to use to run errands around DC in the 50's.

Interestingly, the last of this "75" body was transferred to a few limousines built on the '93-'96 Fleetwood chassies for Hillary Clinton and other White House staff.

I can't recall seeing that style on a 90-92 Brougham body, though.

Outside of a Ghia Imperial limousine, the Cadillac "75" was THE car...  In the footage of JFK's funeral, there is one Ghia Imperial--it was his mom and dad's personal car and drove Rose to the services.

That extra hood chrome is a Hess and Eisenhardt trademark.   H&E had a relationship with the whitehouse that goes far back.   They also created the semi-convertible series 75 Limousines that the secret service used from 1976 on.

For a first lady to use, I'm sure it had some level of armour plating and counter measures like teargas drops and run flat tires.  H&E wouldn't have badged it if they hadn't had their hands on it.

In light of the strong rumor that a new Presidential Limousine will be unveiled at President Elect Obama's inauguration in January of 2009, I would like to revisit the last three Cadillacs used for Presidential cars. I will have my legal assistant Carla Tynes post pictures of same on Monday on this thread. Three cars back brings us to the Presidential Limousine of Bill Clinton which was the 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Limousine. Three of these were made, and one of them resides in The Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is my understanding that the car's doors cannot be opened to the public to this day for security reasons. Carla will post a picture taken by me of the car in this library and a factory photo from the rear of the car. Next was the 2001 Presidential Cadillac DeVille for George W. Bush. I believe three of these were built as well. Carla will post a factory picture of it taken in front of the Jefferson Monument in Washington, D.C. If President Bush is allowed to use one of his cars in his library under consideration, I hope it is one of the 2001s for the reason that this is the car he was using during 9-11 which was a defining moment of his presidency. That brings us to the current Presidential Limousine-the 2006 Cadillac DTS Presidential Limousine of which I believe at least two exist. Carla will post a picture taken by John Mark Huckabee during the second inauguration of George W. Bush in 2005 when the said limousine was used. She will also post a factory picture from the front of the Limousine. John Mark Huckabee is the older son of former Governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas. Charles D. Barnette-one way to tell the difference in the 2001 from the 2006 Presidential Limousines is that the 2001 has a hood ornament and the 2006 does not.

As Herman Munster used to say, "darn darn darn"!  When Reagan was president, I wrote to him asking him for his picture, a picture of his limo and Air Force 1.  After a few months, I got a letter from the Secret Service with a picture of his limo photographed on the White House Property.  I also went to see him, when he made a trip to New Jersey, and got pictures of his limo, and the Secret Services Fleetwood, 4-door convertible, but alas due to my move to Florida, I can't put my finger on them, as they are, hopefully somewhere in unpacked boxes!

Guys,first off,what an interesting thread.You can never have enough to read about Presidential Limos.I have 2 questions.The first one is,do all former presidential limos end up in the former presidents library,or get sold or crushed? The second one is,on Reagans' limo,is that the factory vinyl top? Judging by the picture,the pattern looks different?
