LaSAlle hood latch base

The attached picture shows two different hood latch bases. The taller one came from a '40 LaSalle and the verticle portion measures , from base to top of curve 3 1/8 inches while the other measures 1 7/8 inches.  Does anyone know what it fits?

Bill,

You say the taller one came out of a 1940 LaSalle. Is it a 50 or 52 series? I have a 50 series and I believe my base looks like the shorter one (I will check this evening). I think the hood on the 52 series cars is "deeper" and would need a taller latch base. I"ll post the dimensions of mine later.
