Stainless trim

The stainless trim pieces around the spare tire cover on my '35 need to be straightened and polished.  I see several people in Hemmings that do stainless restoration work, any recommendations that would help in my search?  Thank you.

Geoff - I try my best to use local people as much as possible to do my restoration work so I can actually visit the place and hand deliver the parts. This obviously isn't possible all the time , but I did find a local ( MA ) shop to repair my stainless. Last week I picked up a number of trim pieces for my 37 6049 series. Included in the bunch were pieces from the running board and the very small dash pieces as well as larger body trim pieces. The stainless pieces for my 47 convertible were also done at this shop. I say "shop" but it is actually a one man small operation , and he works out of his basement. I believe this is his full time occupation, but I've never actually asked. I've been there a few times and he seems to always have plenty of work waiting to be done . I've been very pleased with everything he has done so far and I think his prices are reasonable - probably because of his low operating costs . I think his turn around time is in the 4-6 week range, but if pressed , he'll do the job faster. He seems like a nice and honest guy. I have no personal relationship with his business other than the work he has done for me and I'm passing this info to you with the hope it will help you in making a decision as to who to use for your stainless. Thank you very much for your reply, Paul.  I had about decided that no one was going to respond --- I figured there must be lots of people here that have had stainless restored.  I am in south Florida on the east coast, there are a couple of stainless resto places here  in Florida (but on the west coast of course), I am going to talk to them before making up my "alleged" mind.  The pieces I have in need of restoring are circular (spare tire cover trim) and not easy to ship.  I have printed out your reply and will save it.  Thank you again.

Here's another vote for Brighworks Restoration; I used them several years ago.  The prices were reasonable and the work has held up well.  At the time, I was dealing with Joe Grace.  Perhaps he has turned things over to another member of the family.

Geoff,
I'm sure you can find a good polisher near to you. If you need some Ca. places, just let me know. No matter where you have the work performed, you may want to have them flash chromed to give them the look you want. Be prepared for negative comments or dumb looks when you mention it. LOL. Remember, it CAN be & WAS done.

   Thank you Bob.  My pieces are dented and dinged pretty badly.  I'm sure I can find someone not too far away from me but thought there might be someone that everyone would agree that I just HAD to send my pieces too for best workmanship and price.

You should find a good Chrome Plating Shop.   They will have a knowledge of who can repair things - especially when they need to get things repaired after being caught up in the polishing wheels.

Especially look out for an "Older" Panel Beater.   We have one here who does marvellous work with Stainless Steel Trim, but the postage would be huge.

   Yes, postage would add up wouldn't it!?

I already have several pieces of pot-metal trim at a chrome shop about 40 minutes from me and lots more to take.  I will talk to them next time I go up there.  Thanks.
