That's the best looking color I have ever seen on a Brougham.

I do not understand this at all.
I have never seen any '57 or '58 Eldorado Broughams having been sold cheaper than $100,000 on eBay.
Additionally, I respect but do not completely understand if somebody buys a car only because that particular vehicle was used by e.g. Elvis Presley. OK, it can be sold more expensive a couple of years or decades later.
However, this is a very nice car. It is a rare car (only 304 were built). It is a kind of non-plus-ultra car of Cadillac. Additionally, it was owned by somebody who is still a real legend.
I do not understand this. ???

A really great looking Brougham in a lovely, rare color.  I loved the story about Frank being
stopped by the traffic cop.  I can almost hear the expletives flying!  He was known
to have a short fuse.

I'm also a bit surprised that a nice original car with that kind of provenance did not
gather more $$$ especially at an auction!

Somebody got a bargain!

I thought it was a good price - perhaps sometimes you can get lucky.  Soon to be seen driving the streets of Western Australia!  The sabres will immediately be changed for the correct Brougham wheels though.  Regards, Ross.

Ross,

As they say on TV, "Well Bought".

$117,000.00 is still a whole lot of money for a car, but a beautiful Brougham with that pedigree?  what an investment.  I am surprised the Imperial Palace or Jay Leno didn't snap it up, but sometimes these auctions come up and not everyone is looking at that exact moment.

I hope it arrives safely.

Very beautiful car...I just have one question.  If Frank had the sabres installed on the car..not sure if he did or not, but if he did.  Then why would you want to remove them and put the brougham wheels back on?  Like I said....maybe he didn't have them fitted, but if he did I'd leave them alone.

Somewhere I heard the original color of Franks car was "Wimbleton Grey" or some other beautiful grey color.

Right you are, John!  The original color was mentioned in the link that you provided at the start of this thread.

"Finished today in a Cordovan Red (the body plate paint code is 116, Wimbledon Grey)....."

Ross,
Exceptional good buy!  Congrats on the purchase.   The last time I spoke with an Aussie collector, he told me that all cars had to be converted to right hand drive, even those of antique status.  I sure hope that isn't the case with your Brougham. If this is true, do you have plans for the conversion and how you would handle the dash modifications?
Thanks

That law doesn't apply to cars of this vintage unless you're modifying it. If you hot rod an old car the steering wheel has to be switched to the wrong side.

Not sure about the rules in Western Australia but in New South Wales there's no restrictions with left hand drive as long as the car's atleast 30 years old - modified or not.  I would think WA would be the same as NSW as the rule makers down here want to get things uniform across all states.

Anyone know what happened to the blue 57 brougham that Frank Sinatra once owned?

No, we don't have to convert to Right Hand Drive (I think that law ceased 20 odd years ago).  There are lots of left hand drive cars running around here in Perth.  I took my '59 Oldsmobile 98 coupe out last Saturday and there was about 40 LHD cars driving around together - it's really not a problem driving this way (but why did there have to be both LHD AND RHD in the world?).  Regarding the sabres, I'm presuming that they were changed but I'm endeavouring to contact previous owners to find out more information first.  Interestingly, the person who signed the Certificate of Title over to me was Genevieve (Jenny) Craig and was part of a collection owned by Sid and Gen Craig.
