It depends on who's buying and how well the new paint job is applied.
Some people want everything as it was originally, some don't. If the new paint job is just an over-spray from MACCO, then your resale value will go in the toilet. If it's stripped to the bare metal and doorsills and posts are done, firewall, etc, then it might not impact the resale value too much.
How long do you intend to keep the car? Regardless, a quality paint job is going to cost you $10k or more.
