1939 1940 Cadillac & LaSalle Transmission for Sale
« on: February 23, 2010, 03:32:28 PM »
I have a transmission for sale that fits all 1939 & 1940 Cadillac and LaSalle.  Trans is clean and seems to shift smoothly.  Gaskets appear to be tight as there is no leakage.  There is the number 930 stamped on the side of the case.  Trans is about 41 inches long and total shipping weight is 115 lbs and can be shipped UPS.  I can deliver free within 100 miles of Lancaster, PA.  I have pictures but I could not figure how to attach to this message but please email me and I will send pictures and answer questions honestly.  I am asking $300.00 or best offer.  Thanks for looking.  Richard Gottshall CLC 10430

Hi
Does the manual 3 speed gear box you have fit on a 331 Cad engine ?
Do you know of same body has one for sale. I am searching for a fly wheel and clutch as well to fit on the same engine.
Thank you
William

The transmission is exactly the same.  You need all of the stuff between the transmission and the crankshaft for the 331.  It is not the same as the flathead or the hydramatic.  The pressure plate and disc itself may be the same.  A study of the parts book would tell the story on that.  The transmission tail shaft changed in 41 so you need a 41 and newer to match the drive shaft.  If you can find a very good 40 and older transmission it can be converted to the 41 style.  The key is to get good parts in the core transmission.
