ID This Engine?
« on: March 01, 2010, 08:29:27 AM »
I'm trying to figure out exactly what this is. At first glance, I thought it was a 322/346. I still do, but it has some mods that I haven't seen before. It appears that there is a plate(?) between the water pump/timing cover and the block. The intake/exhaust is crazy, and the heads seem different.

Boat motor? pump?

Anyone know what this is?

Thanks.

Hi Flattie,

Post that on the Misfit board. Denrep and Mike Jones seem to know every oddball engine in the world.  Carfreak might nail it here, though.

Thanks.

I really thought it was a Caddy/Lasalle variation.

I like the intake.   Was that a somewhat common design?

Actually, I find the exhaust quite interesting. Rams horns that collect under the carb.

I too think it's an Oakland/Pontiac. Certainly not a Cadillac/LaSalle. There were not many flat head V-8's produced in the era.
