Trying to Identify Trim Parts
« on: March 04, 2010, 09:17:44 PM »
Hello, all. I found two Cadillac chrome trim pieces in my shed. I am wondering what year and make they are, and what the proper name is for these trim pieces. I attached a picture of them.

If you have any insight into their approximate worth that would be great, too. They have scuffs and mild dents but seem fully restorable. Thank you very much!

These look like radio delete plates from 30s-40s.
71 Olds 98 LS, 66 Fairlane 500 XL Convertible, 55 Packard Clipper Super, 58 Edsel Ranger, 72 Cheyenne Super, many 49-60 parts cars, abandoned "House Of Doom" full of 49-60 parts. Huge piles of engine parts, brackets, tin, Hydramatic & Jetaway parts,  thousands of stainless moldings, dozens of perfect sedan doors.

They look like the bumper plates for 1938 or 1939 Cadillacs.

The official name in the parts book is escutcheon plate.  As previously stated it mounts on the front and rear bumpers  It is group no. 11.0814 part no. 1428773.  These are actually 39 plates which had a slightly different font than the 38 version.  If you went to the dealer in 1940 to replace your 38 plates you would be sold the 39 plates.  The 38 plate would not have been available.  There should be plenty of bidders for these if sold on eBay and the fair value would be found.  They have been reproduced in the past but as far as I know there are none being offered right now.
