59 Cadillac - Generator Resitor or Capacitor
« on: March 06, 2010, 07:37:31 PM »
All,

I am restoring a 59 Cadillac and I am trying to figure out what the item is that is hanging off the generator.  It is either a resistor or capacitor but I am unsure.  Also I am having trouble finding a new one.  Any help would be appreciated.

Dan

It is a capacitor.  I think it was for radio interference suppression.

Dan,

If you are looking for a general replacement (not Delco OEM) you could use the same one used for the distributor i.e Standard DR70 series. These condensors/capacitors are in the .3 microforads range.

Good luck..!
