1959 vs 1960 Automatic Transmission Filter and Gasket
« on: March 08, 2010, 02:39:36 AM »
Hi Experts,

Can anyone tell me if the filter and pan gasket for a 1959 and a 1960 transmission are different?
I would think they are the same, but I recently received a filter kit from a seller, and it looks different than my original 1959's.
The seller says the kit I received is for a 1960 to 1964 transmission, not for '59. Is this correct?
I added a picture of the kit.

They're definately different!  A '60 pan gasket won't fit a '59.

a 59 will be a screen and 60 's and later use the type like you showed.

I don't know why people are buying this kind of stuff on ebay. Rock Auto has these filter kits, fuel pumps etc for half the price ebay listers are asking. I suggest you check them out sometime.

Also NAPA has many things you would never think they have plus if you have AAA you get a 7% discount!

You are right, but if you live on the other side of the ocean, it doesn't make things easier.... :(

That's when you need a good friend on this side of the pond who'll buy the stuff and ship it to you  ;)

I guess you're right, but to be honest I never did so before.
It IS a good option though...

If I was in the US and not Canada, I'd do it for you no problem.  I end up buying a lot of my stuff out of the US but shipping to Canada can be killer sometimes!
