'46 Conv door & vent window handles
« on: March 13, 2010, 10:32:55 AM »
I am having problems with the electro hydraulic window switch on the drivers door.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the door and vent
window handles. They are mounted on a painted steel panel and there is no
way I can bend it in to reach the clips without damaging the panel. How do you
experts accomplish this task?   John

Hi John; The escutcheon chrome ring around the vent handle as well as the door handle is a two part escutcheon. The first chrome ring of the escutcheon direct behind each handle is spring loaded to hold that chrome ring tightly against the handle. Take a small screw driver and insert the blade behind the handle and the first chrome ring. Then gently push in and back against the spring. It should let you insert the clip removal tool as pictured below and remove the handle clip.
