The car has too many tell-tale signs that it is not as represented (a 13k mile, original, unrestored car):

* a 1960 autronic eye unit on the dash - wrong for a 1959 car
* if the car is a Coupe deVille as stated in the ad it should have emblems on the quarter panels but it should not have the 62 series emblems on the fenders.
* seats have obviously been reupholstered - the vinyl is wrinkled, poorly fit throughout; Cadillac would not have let a car out the door looking like that
* the seat buttons on the lower part of the front seat are sewn in a crooked line - again not done by Cadillac
* rear seat center V section looks redone
* the horizontal panel on the back of the bench seat is too thick and not installed properly
* the welt in the door opening is too thick - not original
* stainless trim on passenger door was damaged when the door panel was reinstalled - see 2 dents?
* shift lever looks like it has black electrical tape wrapped around the painted end - different color than turn signal lever
* black paint is missing from rear grille - why if this is a 13k mile ORIGINAL car?
* of course, white walls are too wide
* cheap plastic Kmart-style door edge guard - if a 13k mile car should have original stainless door guards

The ebay seller is stating that this is a totally original car, the best of the best, a 13k mile original car, a piece of history.  Not as I see it.

**** I would love to see photos of the engine compartment.

Gday Ted,

The biggest give-away is the poor condition of the trunk interior.

My 60 CDV is in better condition that that, and God knows how many miles mine has travelled.   And, you should see the stuff that I put in mine.

How could such a low mileage original trunk have become so contaminated.

Bruce,
The Tassie Devil(le),

Misrepresentation maybe, thieves maybe, but in the end anyone who buys a car sight unseen like this has only themselves to blame.  A lot of people who sell cars online don't know what they really have themselves, IE: new engine, says who, where are the photos and reciepts.

This thread goes back to 2005!  Why are we talking about it NOW?  There have been plenty of mis-represented cars on eBay, car dealer lots, Craig's List, etc., etc., etc., since then.  Ebay is full of thieves?  Heck, the WORLD is full of thieves.  Buyer beware!  Sounds like a Luvdg car.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
