1)What is the fabric material on the BACK of the FRONT seat ? 2-3 inch pleated? courdouroy-look? smooth ? 2) what is the material on the rear seat side arm rests (at ash tray location - not center)? 3) material just above the armrests(below beltline)..I have only the seats and door panels. Thanks.

Alan,
The back side of the front seat is plain broadcloth, with pleats about 3 wide sewn in. Plain broadcloth is also used for the door panels, front seat side panels(not part of the cushion), panel above the rear side armrests, and the headliner. The rear side armrests are covered with the same material as the seats. This can be either plain broadcloth or Bedford Cord(Cadillac called it Heather Cord) in blue-gray, tan ,or green. Also available were partial or full leather interiors, depending on the buyers taste and willingness to spend $. These were rare in the 62 Deluxe sedans, and not available in the 62 standard models.
If Barry disagrees, we will need to discuss this some more.

Thanks so much. I have the authenticity manual, but it does not cover these points. I have a complete front seat from a standard in my car which has the back of the front seat which sounds identical to the deluxe..is this correct ? (I thought it was different somehow).

Dear Bob, Thank you for saving me a trip out in the cold. (It was 75 yesterday...) The only addition is that my 41 6127 (standard) had leather cushions in the front seat, and the usual fabric in the back. This was an option in the special features book.

You are correct that the back side of the front seat is the same material in 41-62 standard and deluxe interiors. Im not sure if the 41-6219 standard has the pleats on the backside of the front seat, but you have a standard seat that should already provide that answer.All cloth parts are the same material, but different pattern, in standard and deluxe, except for the seat cushions, seat backrests, rear center armrest, and rear side armrests.
Some time ago the question of door panels material came up, and the answer is in the upholstery chart reproduced in the authenticity manual, if you dont go blind or nuts looking at that information.

Hi, I checked, and Robert is correct in saying that the pleats are 3 in width. My garage is quite dark, and I dont know whether or not I can take a shot to show how the outlining of the pleats is or not, but I will try tomorrow.

PS: is there a color chart / fabric chart available anywhere for the options available on a 6219 D ?..am trying to determine the look of Bedford cloth, Heather cloth, ribbed cloth,cord cloth, etc.

When a standard color chart comes on the market, by the time you have paid for it, you probably could have paid for renewing one or two door panels. They are scarce, very expensive, and only show a few colors. If one of the special fabric swatch charts ever came on the market, it would probably be in the four figure range. They simply dont exist. The fabrics available from Bill Hirsch, Lew Jenkins, et al, are very close to what was available, and when there was variation, like the standard ridged material, these few are NOT available. Use the most faded shades, I.E., NOT the brighter shades of the swatches they will send...and even this is a relative term, but after you get a grouping, you will see the difference. You will end up with an interior that will look very close to what was in the car when new. The Bedford cord used was about 1/16 or so in diameter. Dont you have ANY material left on your seats?

I very much appreciate all your help. I have a DELUXE car with standard seats (changed years after it was built). After reviewing the Authenticity Manual and Cads of the 40s book, I just need to know what was the proper Cadillac term for the coudouroy looking material used on 6219 DELUXE (approx.1/16 wide ribs). Thanks.

Its commonly known as Bedford Cord, no matter what the width of the rib.
