If you are a registered user, you can expand the forum header. Click on the little red "up arrow".  It is located at the top left corner of the screen (right next to CLC Home|Forum Home|Help|Search|Admin|Profile line).

This handy dandy feature gives you a couple of useful short cuts.

Check it out!  Cool

Jeff,

What is the secret to placing a picture under the name on the left side.

I have tried a couple of times, and not been successful.

Is there a size limit on the picture that can be used?

Bruce.

Click the 'Profile' link.  Then, click the 'Forum Profile Information' link on the left side of the screen.  From there, you can upload you own photo by selecting 'I will upload my own picture'.  The photo will only display @ 65 pixels by 65 pixels, so don't upload a large, hi-resolution photo.  Once your photo is uploaded, scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Change Profile'.

G'day Jeff,

Did all that, and even did it a second time with the photo reduced to 100kb in size, but it still didn't work.

Will try with an even smaller one.

Jeff,

Still didn't work, even with the picture reduced to 50kb.

But, one question, Do I have to re-register now that the system is up and running?

At the Modified Cadillac forum site one can attach one's own picture on the left using a "Browse" link rather than a url, much like I would attach a picture with this message.  Is there a way to do that here?

It should work the same way here as it does on the Modified forum.  We use the same software.

This is what it says here ----

    I have my own pic:
Specify your own avatar by URL. (ex: http://www.mypage.com/mypic.gif)

This is what is at the Modified Chapter's Forum Profile page ----

     Personalized Picture:
Do Nothing

   I have my own pic:
Specify your own avatar by URL. (ex: http://www.mypage.com/mypic.gif)

I will upload my own picture:
"I will upload my own picture" with a BROWSE link is what is missing on the Profile Info page at this site.

Geoff,

Sorry about that, try it now.  I had that switched off for most users.  My mistake.

Let me know if it is still an issue.

Hello Jeff:

In registering it asks for you to use at least 6 digits for a password.  I try that and I get a message that says passwords have to be 8 digits.

JEff,  I have posted a few items using the V Pulley name.  I would like to use my legel name.  How can I re-register?  Thanks.  Viator Trudeau.    P S    For my last post about shock absorbers I included my membership number, but the post would not post.  Is it because the number is not registered?

Why is it you can only attach 2 pictures per post.  Most other Cadillac forums you can attach 4.

The reason is simply that the site is set-up for two pictures only.

I wouldn't be surprised if it cost more to allow more pictures.

But, if you want to post more than two pictures at any one time, all you have to do is to hit the "Reply" button again after posting the initial two.

Jeff

I hope the admins of the Forum don't mind, I just wanted to bump this up for reading (I guess it will only really bump up for people who use the "show unread posts" command). I've noticed some folks have a blue question mark icon under their names in the profile area of their messages. This usually occurs when you try to load a picture that doesn't fit. You'll know as soon as you try to attach a photo; You choose the file and then click the "Change Profile" button and get a blank screen. That means it didn't take. Check whatever photo software you use to see how to re-size by pixels and make it the prescribed 65 ppi. I've attached the pic I used in case you want to use it as comparison.
