It seems like whenever I post something, the time of post is off by many hours. Is there a reason for this? I am gradually getting used to the new format. Looks good.

When browsing and posting as a guest, the default time is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

If you choose to register, you can set the timezone in your profile to be your local timezone.

I was able to easily set the clock to central time after I registered, but I have another question.  Can you or I change the time format so that the month is first?  01-08-2007 looks like January 8th instead of August 1 to me.

For me, it's so I can have a pretty good idea whether I've already read it. If I haven't checked the board  since yesterday, I would not have read any dated today.

I'm sure you're right, Jeff.  I'm typing this at work at the police station (slow evening!) and I don't see that date line on this computer at all.

You can do that now, by clicking on :

Show unread posts since last visit.

at the top.

Come on Rusty.   Nothing wrong with the date.   We have been using the dd/mm/yyyy format for hundreds of years, and even longer than that in good ol' mother England.

It is about time that you Americans saw the light, and joined the rest of the world.

Come on Rusty.   Nothing wrong with the date.   We have been using the dd/mm/yyyy format for hundreds of years, and even longer than that in good ol' mother England.

It is about time that you Americans saw the light, and joined the rest of the world.

Bruce, The USAF used two (2) metholds to record dates.  1. dd/mmm/yyyy. For example: 21 Aug 2007 or if you wanted to know to the day how long one had been in the service the dates would be written like this:  2007 08 21     then put the date the person entered  service and  subtract. the number obtained = time in service.  Or the CLC or anything else with dates.

Well, Bruce, I know you're right and that I shouldn't be so US-centric (an affliction that the majority of us unfortunately have); after all, my grandfather was the only one of 10 children who was not born in England which means I'm only a couple of generations away from the Commonwealth. I'll try to do better. Also, I promise not to try to drive if I ever visit Australia.  I've managed to drive for 38 years without an accident and I'm pretty sure that record would be shattered should I attempt to drive on the left side of the road (please note that I was careful to avoid saying the "wrong" side of the road).

BRUCE:  I guess you are right, you ought to stay where you are in your nice little country.  I fought in the Korean War with Australian soldiers and they were a great bunch of guys.  EAM
