Cadillacs of any description were "special" to see on a typical public street. My father was in the outdoor decorating business (flags, banners, etc.), and I have a number of old photographs of street scenes that include a row of stores or a shopping center where his company was working. Of course, all these scenes include numerous parked cars. Typically these cars looked nothing like what we see at car shows today -- almost all were dark colored four-door sedans with minimal chrome, blackwall tires, no spotlights, foglights, or fender skirts -- and most were low-priced or lower-medium-priced models. When a relative or a neighbor drove up in a Cadillac, even the most basic Series 62 sedan, it was a notable occasion.
